Hackney Sales is a council service focused on building more than 3,000 new homes at over 30 locations across the borough as part of its ambitious regeneration programme, with more than half allocated for social rent and shared ownership.

Hackney Sales, serving as the Hackney Council's dedicated estate agent, operates within a competitive landscape dominated by private sector property developers. Recognising the need to establish a distinctive and compelling presence, Hackney Design Studio was engaged. The primary objective was to develop a comprehensive brand identity for Hackney Sales that would not only rival the marketing and aesthetic appeal of private developers but also clearly communicate the Council's commitment to prioritising local residents in both private sales and the allocation of social housing. This branding initiative aimed to build trust and recognition within the community while simultaneously attracting potential buyers and tenants, ensuring that Hackney Sales could effectively compete and fulfil its dual mandate of revenue generation for the Council and equitable housing provision for its constituents.

Each real estate development has a distinct character, requiring a unique visual and textual identity. To address this, we established a branding framework designed for seamless adaptation across various developments while maintaining essential assets and brand guidelines aligned with the overarching Council corporate identity. The foundation of each development's branding is its bespoke photography and curated copy, which together create the central visual and narrative.
This tailored content is consistently applied across a range of marketing materials, including hoarding graphics, comprehensive development and technical brochures, and engaging content for various social media platforms. This approach ensures that each development effectively communicates its individual appeal while benefiting from the established recognition and trust associated with the Council brand.
