Hackney Council publishes Love Hackney, a free magazine distributed to homes and businesses throughout the borough. Residents and users collaborated on its design. The magazine is also accessible at self-service points across the borough and features local news, events, businesses, and interviews with community members and organisations.

Hackney Design Studio partnered with the editorial team, local residents, and internal stakeholders. This close collaboration focused on the conception, design, and development of a magazine intended to be both engaging and accessible for all readers. The goal of this inclusive approach was to incorporate diverse viewpoints and ensure the magazine conveyed its messages clearly to a wide audience.

A seven-column grid system has been adopted to enhance whitespace management across the page. This system features a floating column that can be positioned between other columns to accommodate diverse content requirements.
The strategic use of whitespace in publications enhances readability, improves visual appeal, and fosters a more engaging experience for the reader by creating breathing room and visual balance.
