Hackney Carnival is a vibrant celebration of Caribbean culture, music, and dance, held annually in the borough of Hackney, London. Characterised by colourful costumes, lively processions, and the sounds of soca, calypso, and reggae, the carnival attracts thousands of participants and spectators. It serves as a platform for cultural expression, community unity, and joyful festivities. 

It is the Council’s most high-profile outdoor cultural event, drawing together thousands of residents, businesses, visitors, and local artists for a day to celebrate Hackney’s cultural diversity, heritage, and community life. This animated showcase highlights the artistic and creative prowess of the local community and strives to be an inclusive, accessible, and diverse celebration of all that is Hackney.

  • Hackney Design Studio was tasked with developing a new, long-term brand for the Carnival in response to decreased funding for cultural events and the need for consistent branding to mitigate the costs of creating new content and merchandise each year. The primary focus for 2024 was on producing out-of-home advertising and social media content.

  • By utilising the vibrant and energetic colours characteristic of our brand identity and exploring the rich collection of carnival imagery preserved in our archives, we effortlessly generated visually captivating content. Additionally, we produced the diverse range of logo variations required for the project, ensuring consistency and adaptability across various platforms and applications.
